UNTEPP is a digital wellbeing app for Android. It measures how you use your phone so you can decide to use it differently. The record of what you actually do on your device stays on your device.
The short version. UNTEPP has no accounts and no server of its own. Your usage history — which apps you open and for how long — is stored only in the app's local database on your phone and is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. What does leave the device is limited to anonymous product analytics, crash reports, your subscription status, and any feedback email you choose to send us.
UNTEPP ("the app", "we", "us") is published by Chirag Prajapati, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. For any privacy question or request, contact hello.untepp@gmail.com.
For users in the UK and EEA, we are the data controller for the limited personal data described in section 3.
UNTEPP does not ask you to register, sign in, or provide a name, email address, or phone number. There is nothing to log into. We therefore hold no directory of users and cannot connect app activity to your identity.
The following never leaves your phone. It is written to a private database inside the app's own storage, which other apps cannot read:
We have no ability to retrieve any of this. There is no server it could be retrieved to.
This data is also excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup and from device-to-device transfer, so it is not copied to your Google account or to a new phone. The only copy that leaves your device is an export you create yourself in the app's Data & privacy settings.
To hold you to a limit at the moment you open an app, UNTEPP uses an Android Accessibility Service. It is worth being precise about what that does, because the permission sounds broader than the use:
com.example.social — and
the type of window that opened (its class name, such as the
name of an app screen, the keyboard, or the notification shade). The window
type is used only to tell an app actually opening apart from a keyboard or
system panel appearing over it.| What | Who processes it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous product analytics — that a focus session started or ended, a limit was created, the paywall was shown, a purchase started, succeeded, failed or was cancelled, onboarding finished, a permission was granted, an intervention was shown or overridden. Plus the device model, OS version, country, and an app-instance identifier assigned by Google. | Google (Firebase Analytics) | To see which features are used and where people get stuck. |
| Crash reports — the error, the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version at the time of a crash. | Google (Firebase Crashlytics) | To find and fix crashes. |
| Purchase and subscription status — which plan was bought, when it renews or lapses, and an anonymous identifier RevenueCat generates for this installation. | RevenueCat, Inc. and Google Play | To unlock Premium and keep it unlocked across reinstalls. |
| Feedback you choose to email us — if you use Send feedback, or rate the app three stars or fewer, the app opens your own email app with your note (and rating, if you gave one), the app version, your Android version and your device model filled in. Nothing is sent unless you press send, and the email then comes from your address to hello.untepp@gmail.com. | Us, and your email provider and ours (Google) | To read and reply to your feedback. Delete-on-request applies. |
Note what is not in that table. The names of the apps you use, how long you use them, your limits, your streaks and your goals are not sent to Google, to RevenueCat, or to us. Analytics events record that something happened, never which of your apps it happened to.
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or receive your card number, bank details, or billing address. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt from Google in order to tell the app whether Premium is active.
Firebase Analytics may access the Android advertising ID on your device. UNTEPP shows no adverts, sells no data, and does not use this identifier for advertising or for cross-app tracking. You can reset or delete it at any time in Settings → Google → Ads on your device.
Where consent is the applicable basis in your jurisdiction, you may withdraw it by uninstalling the app or by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Because the app holds no account:
You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Data is shared only with the processors named in section 3.3, and where we are legally required to disclose it.
Google and RevenueCat process data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States, under the safeguards those providers offer (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
UNTEPP is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, note it in the app. Continuing to use UNTEPP after a change means you accept the updated policy.
